 Frances Lewine

An acclaimed Washington journalist, Frances Lewine covered nine Presidential administrations over six decades, first as a White House correspondent for the Associated Press and then as a producer at CNN's Washington bureau - until her death at age 86.  A former member of the Women's National Press Club, Fran was a founding member of the Washington Press Club Foundation. 

Always a passionate advocate for freedom of the press (and freedom in general), she was also a heroic trail blazer for women journalists and a mentor to countless young reporters.

Memorial contributions in honor of Frances may be made to the Frances Lewine Fund/ Washington Press Club Foundation  The Fund will honor and support superlative journalism that exposes injustice, fights discrimination and holds government accountable.  A steering committee has formed to designate the use of this fund to best inspire generations of journalists to come.
